It is with sadness that we note the passing of a member of the Dees Family.......Brian Douglas Richardson
Brian, a former premiership player and Club coach Brian Richardson passed away on Wednesday 28th April 2020.
Brian was the youngest of 9 brothers who played TCA cricket, 8 of whom played for North Hobart. Brian began his 1st grade career at North Hobart in 1952. He was a member of North’s 1953/54 premiership side.
In 26 years of 1st grade cricket Brian scored 9612 runs and took 306 wickets . He coached 4 TCA clubs and was coaching at North Hobart when it won the 1978/79 premiership. The 78/79 team included his youngest son David and nephew Ian.
Brian represented Tasmania on several occasions, the highlight being his 112 versus England at the NTCA Ground in 1966. Brian coached the Tasmanian State team in 1982- 83 and was inducted into the Tasmanian Cricket Hall of Fame in 2017.
Brian like many of his brothers had a great passion for the game and continued to play down the grades for many years after he finished playing 1st grade. There are thousands of anecdotes about Brian most of which a very amusing. Brian was a unique character is remembered fondly at North Hobart.
He leaves behind, his wife of 65 years Margaret, 3 sons Glenn, Phillip and David all who played TCA 1st grade and daughter Kaye.
