Independent Member for Denison Andrew Wilkie has been appointed as the new Patron of the North Hobart Cricket Club.
Wilkie toured the North Hobart Cricket Club facilities yesterday afternoon, mingling with the Clubs Board and playing group.
Andrew's role at the North Hobart Cricket Club as club Patron will consist of having a strong presence in the clubs community.
“We approached Andrew because we believe that he is someone who not only has a strong presence in the community, but he is also someone who we believe will buy into the clubs vision,” said North Hobart Cricket Club President Jill Taylor.
“Andrew has similar values and ethics to the club, and we believe that he will be a strong advocate for our club.”
Taylor said that as part of Wilkie’s role, he will be a mentor to the leaders of the club, including players and the board.
In his new role, Wilkie will endeavour to open doors and avenues for the North Hobart Cricket Club, to ultimately guide the future of the club.
