Ryan Graham-Daft registered his second century of the season.

A Semi Final win to our Women’s side in the Kookaburra Cup and a century to Ryan Graham-Daft were the highlights from the weekend’s play.

Bowling first at Kangaroo Bay, the North Hobart First Grade side removed Clarence’s openers and number three cheaply. However, this brought Michael Jones (100) and Wade Irvine (82*) together, as they put on 142 for the 4th wicket partnership. Cameron Boyce 2/55 (18) and Robb Macmillan 1/48 (18) were the pick of the bowlers for North Hobart as Clarence finished 5/267 (78) at stumps with rain delaying play in the afternoon session. Day two will commence this Saturday at Kangaroo Bay Oval from 10:30am.

In their Women’s Kookaburra Cup Semi Final against New Town, the Demons bowled first as Belinda Page 3/24 (7.4) led the way with the ball. Page was well backed up by her Skipper Hannah Short 2/3 (3), young gun Ella Marsh 2/29 (6) and Kirstin Palfrey 2/10 (3) as New Town were bowled out for 121 (32.4). Opening the batting for North Hobart, Taylah Purton 44* (65) and Hobart Hurricane turned North Hobart Demon Sephanie Daffara 33 (50) had the Demons off to a strong start. Following the dismissal of Daffara to Erin Lawler, Belinda Page 15 (20) joined Purton at the crease to guide the Demons home one wicket down, finishing 1/122. The North Hobart Premier League Women's side now advance to the Kookaburra Cup Final, which will be played against South Hobart Sandy Bay on the 17th of March.

At Soldiers Memorial Oval, Second Grade lost the toss and Clarence elected to bat. With the new ball, Harry Thomas removed Clarence opener Liam Rice early, however, a 199 run partnership between Caiden Workman and Damien Paul saw the Demons struggling for answers. Spinner Elliot Batchelor finally dismissed Workman for a well-made 52 (145). Paul continued his assault on the Demon attack, finishing 185 (188), finally falling to Demon spinner William Collins late in the days play. Clarence finished 5/312 with Ben Taylor 1/36 (10) and Elliot Batchelor 1/40 (13) the pick of the bowlers for the Demons. Day two will commence this Saturday at Soldiers Memorial Oval from 10:30am.

In the Third Grade clash between North Hobart and Clarence at Soldiers Memorial Oval, a young North Hobart side played well to bowl Clarence out for 190 (70.2) overs. Opening the bowling for the Demons, young medium pace bowler James Ball 4/30 (17.2) bowled consistently and received great rewards. Ball was well backed by Gabriel Deayton 3/20 (9) and Brennan Azzopardi 2/53 (19). Having made his way through the ranks, sixteen year old leg spinner Sam McKenzie bowled well to finish 1/8 (3), including his first grade wicket.

In the highly anticipated U17 clash against Clarence, North Hobart were dominant with the bat on day one. Ryan Graham-Daft (134) was clinical opening the batting, registering his second century of the season. Putting on 118 for the first wicket partnership, Daft and Lewis Drury (51) saw the Demons off to a flyer. Despite the loss of Drury, the in form Sam Gowans (64) and Isaac Manson (63*) had Clarence on the ropes, as the Demons declared on 4/354 (66). Play will resume this Sunday from 10:30am at Gunn Oval.

The North Hobart U15 match against Clarence went down to the wire at Clarence High School. Bowling first, the Demons were exceptional with the ball. Led by Joe Powell 3/21 (8) and Syd McGuire 2/4 (4), the Demons bowled Clarence out for 74 (28.4).  Some terrific fielding from Powell, Tom Benefield and Noah Moroney resulted in three run outs to the Demons. Despite loosing frequent wickets in the run chase, Dom White 10 (23), Noah Moroney 14 (54) and Luke Quinlan 10 (12) all made contributions with the bat to guide the Demons to 8/75 (33.1).
