The North Hobart Cricket Club U18 Vacation Cup side has booked themselves a Grand Final birth following three successful round robin wins against South Hobart Sandy Bay, Clarence and Glenorchy last week, and a Semi Final victory over University at Brighton yesterday.
Star recruit Jake Williams has been prolific in the competition scoring 237 runs at an average of 79, including a match winning 142 (103) against University in the Semi Final. Williams has also been a handy inclusion with the ball taking 5 wickets at an average of 18 across the four games, including the best figures of 4/26 (8) against Glenorchy.
Isaac Manson, William Collins and Lachlan Newland have all been consistent contributors with the ball, having taken 5 wickets each from their four matches. Newland will exit the Demons side due to schooling commitments for the Grand Final. Having taken 5 wickets at an average of 17.40 and averaging 134 with the bat, Newland has been the most influential all rounder in the side. However, the team is confident the likes of Jaryd Van Der Steege, Samuel Lewis-Johnson and Isaac Manson can fill the gap in the middle order, and bowl some handy overs through the middle of the bowling innings. The handy inclusion of Dominic Rawlings for week two will also be a key addition to the fast bowling stocks of the side.
The Grand Final will be played between North Hobart and Kingborough at Clare Street Oval, New Town from 10:30am on Thursday.
