A gritty 3 hour innings from Corey Murfet has helped the Demons progress into their second consecutive First Grand Grand Final
A weekend of mixed results for the North Hobart Cricket Club, as the Demons First Grade side progress to their second Grand Final in just as many seasons.
On Saturday morning, South Hobart Sandy Bay won the toss and elected to bowl in hope of a result at Queenborough Oval. For North Hobart, the equation was simple; either win, or draw the match to progress into next weekends Grand Final at Blundstone Arena. A gritty two and a half hour innings from opener Caleb Jewell set the tone for the Demons, however, with his dismissal for 77 (166), the Sharks got the breakthrough they were after. Strong resistance from Corey Murfet 78* (204) and Kyle Scrimegour 41 (67), saw the Demons to 6/247 (96) at stumps.
Arriving at Queenborough Oval this morning, the game was abandoned, and with the shake of hands between players and umpires, North Hobart have progressed to next weekends three day Grand Final at Blundstone Arena.
A disappointing result at KGV from the North Hobart Third Grade side has seen their season finish with play being abandoned this morning.
At Clare Street Oval, the North Hobart Cricket Club U17 side have also missed out on an opportunity to win their second consecutive Premiership. Play was abandoned this morning due to the wet weather, and with Clarence being the highest positioned side, they will progress through to next weekends Grand Final.
